Individual parent-teacher-student conferences and opportunities to experience your child’s classes are at the heart of Parents Weekend. Particularly for the new families, the additional activities provide a chance for the school to show its hospitality and inform parents of the best ways to take advantage of the many benefits the community provides to its constituents. The international family reception hosted by the Grahams on Thursday kicked off the festivities. The College Counseling Office brought guest speakers to its informative presentation: Ann Fleming of Union College spoke about navigating the application process and Kelly Jambo of Sacred Heart University presented on the financial aid application. Director of College Counseling, Seth Low spoke about athletic recruiting and its impact on the application process. Mike and Sue D'Elia P’12 & ’13 led the Parents Council meeting and introduced the various initiatives that help support the school and the students. Other parents spoke about their specific areas of interest: admissions, advancement, and student life. Friday's reception was a chance for the expression of mutual appreciation between parents and faculty. The faculty donated “spirit” gifts such as an all day ride to classes on a golf cart or homemade brownies which the parents were able to bid on for their children and the parents donated gift certificates and gift baskets which were randomly distributed to the faculty. Saturday’s Country Fair added bluegrass fiddling and fall treats such as caramel apples and cider donuts to the crisp air and action-packed games. The fall foliage and crisp air were enjoyed by all as they headed out for a long anticipated Head's Weekend.
